Will need to be towed. Older restoration. Roll bar. 1776 engine with dual Webers or delorto carbs.

Clear title. Floor boards in good shape. Extra wide rim goes with the car to make into a Baja vehicle. The dash is apart but
there. New tail lights in a box. Has Jbugs tow bar for flat towing. Was told by previous owner engine was rebuilt as well as
transmission. The engine does turn over with battery. Has the side windows and the convertible frame. Please feel free to ask

1974 VW Thing

I have a very complete 73 Thing project. I have come to the conclusion I have WAY too many project cars, and a few have to go. Bought this year's ago ro restore and it never made its way into rotation. I have 99 percent of the OG parts for the car, and some new stuff purchased also. New Thing Shop floor pans, no accidents, only rust is the spare tire area. NO TITLE, it is from WA and long out of the system. 

Won't answer 1000 questions from curious minds, or send more pictures if not interested in actually purchasing it. I suggest you come see it in person. 

I have a VW shop in Phoenix, I can assist in the mechanical portion of the restoration if needed.

1974 Volkswagen Thing

This is a nice Thing from 1974! This one has 45,000 original miles and is solid. One small rust spot (as shown)but the rest is in great condition. 

Front end has been completely redone, engine has been gone over and runs great. Hard top is included but we have a new soft top and can swap them out if you'd rather have that. 

Minor surface rust in the paint - worst is at the windshield mounts but could be cleaned up. The door post had some issue before i bought it - thus the primer - which was added on the other side as well. I also have replacement 'The Thing' stickers for the sides i can include if i can find them.

There is a small dent on the passenger side fender - i'll add pics tomorrow.

This is my personal car - i was planning on color matching the paint and feathering in the primered area but decided i need to thin out the herd a bit. 

Car is located in Detroit, MI, work was done at our shop Detroit Vintage Werkshop by Merlin Tabacco.

Fresh farm find, I pulled engine and fixed/replaced a lot of parts.I cleaned out the gas tank and replaced all the fuel lines. I pulled the engine and replaced all the seals except for the push rod tube seals, which are not leaking and I reinstalled engine.This car is really close to being roadworthy. The brakes do work, but I recommend replacing all the soft lines and it comes with all new soft lines. It does have holes under the battery tray, but comes with a new passenger floor pan to repair the holes under the battery.

For sale is my 1974 Volkswagen Thing- I have enjoyed it for 12 years but now its time to let her go to someone else- it is fun to
drive and gets a lot of attention- it has: original VW hardtop (No I dont have a soft top for it), fog lights, AM/FM radio with
CD player and 4 speakers that were custom mounted, after market front disc brakes that are much safer, custom mounted bucket seats
and an upgraded alternator instead of the original generator and I just added a cool tachometer- and the windows are brand new and
there is no smog requirement for it and they are cheap to maintain! And of course the hard top can be taken off if you want it
that way- and it is priced very competitively-thanks, Gene
